A great debate on CBC’s The Current between Brad Duguid (Ontario’s Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities) and Scott Armstrong (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Employment and Social Development, and the MP for Cumberland – Colchester – Musquodoboit Valley) on The Canada Job Grant.
I was surprised during the discussion to hear that 300,000 jobs went unfilled last year in Canada and Canada spends less private sector money on training than any other OECD country.
With this in mind:
Why do you think private companies are leaving it up to the public sector to invest in training & development?
Could a change in how the public money is spent incentive private companies to spend more?
Sound off below.
